Dear All. This article is to draw your attention to the planet which we call Shani in India in vedic astrology, and which is called Saturn in the world in general. Although Saturn only changes signs at the beginning of February, since Saturn has recently become freed up from the nodal axis called Rahu and Ketu in transit, I notice the importance of telling you some points regarding Saturn in your life. This is regarding both the importance of Saturn right now and the importance of Saturn throughout life and throughout Saturn’s endless transits through the signs.

Firstly, with regard to the present, You must note what Astrological House Saturn is currently in, in Your Vedic astrological natal chart. Saturn has been in this House since January 2017. This is the House which falls in the sign of Sagittarius in Your Vedic astrological natal chart. This is not the same as Your typical Western astrological chart. In the Vedic astrological chart the signs in which the ascendant and the planets fall will be different compared to where they fall in Your Western astrological chart.

The place where Saturn sits in the natal chart, as well as the Houses that Saturn aspects and the Houses ruled by Saturn in Your chart, are all profoundly significant to understand what Shani intends to form out of Your life.

When You look at Shani, the planet Saturn in the sky, it is easy to understand the significance of this great being in Your life. This planet is at once cold, incredibly beautiful, unassuming and at the same time relentlessly unwavering in Its expectations and intentions for You.

Shani’s colors are black, gray and dark blue. They like to appear in the human world as people who do physical labor in a way that has an effect on their physical image and form; people who have a limp or one leg which is not as strong as the other side. This is why You should always pay any worker or servant properly and also show Your appreciation for their work, as this will please Shani, besides it being simple decency.

What You must understand is that a person may have a very Saturnian outlook or persona or way of being in the human world without being a physical representation of Shani in the world. Naturally, the opposite is also the case. A person may have a Saturnian image which means that they are a formal representation within Nature of Saturn; but that person themselves may be a very Mercurial person with a great intellect or a Venusian person who has great singing skills, or whatever! In fact, what all astrologers know is that every person is a deep fusion of all of the planetary qualities and celestial positions active within their chart.

Nonetheless, the fact of physical form is what allows us to recognize and pay homage to the different planets via their formal representations on the earthly plane. And, Saturn is the planet who is basically responsible for the existence of form and the destruction of form in a very physical way. For example, Saturn is the child of the Sun and a being named Chhaya who was posing as the Sun’s wife but who is actually shadow-like in nature.

Without form there would be nothing other than Sun. Just as on the cellular biological level a father exists in the child infused throughout their, her or his physical being, the Sun exists throughout all the proliferation and destruction of form which is Saturn. This is why pure consciousness exists in everything which is manifest in our earthly reality.

This is also why it is of the utmost importance to recognize the true beautiful nature of Saturn instead of simply treating Saturn as a being which only creates hardship, difficulty and blockades in life. To conceptualize Saturn in such a way is to completely misunderstand and not know Saturn. Saturn is perhaps the greatest gift which we have as sentient beings. In the West, there is definitely a new fear of Saturn being highlighted in popular astrology. But in India there is a very developed fear of Saturn because many people think that when they go through their Saturn Dashas or the period that we call Sade Sati, that this is negative because it is when Saturn engages most with our life’s path and how we experience life.

In fact, Saturn is a very nice being. People should cultivate an affection for Saturn. What Saturn does when they sit in a House and aspect a House is to create a situation for You in which, by aligning with Saturn, You can form that aspect of Your life from the outside, as though you were creating Yourself in this current incarnation from an outsider vantage point onto Your own self, in relation to or via these life topics.

How do We see the Aura but in contrast to the Form?

Saturn spends approximately two and a half years in each sign when transiting. During this time, it is not that Saturn is wrecking these parts of Your life, at all, whatsoever. What is happening is that Saturn is presenting You with new materials in the form of the areas of life which are touched by the Houses where Saturn sits and aspects. Saturn obliges You to firstly understand what You have in front of You, and to then re-form that material. The areas of life are not destroyed by Shani, as many people seem to believe. Rather, by the end of the two-and-a-half years, the form in which these life themes are contained is a different one.

Understand that Saturn takes 30 full years to go all the way around your natal chart. Saturn travels so slowly through each life topic that most people overlook that it is Shani themselves who is defining and shaping the very life that You experience in your current incarnation. Furthermore, when a person has passed 36 years of age, that means that Saturn has done one full pass through their chart and additionally Rahu and Ketu have completed two full rotations. At that point one can consider themselves fully formed by Saturn. When a person is watchful, they will notice a huge difference at that point and this is because they have become a fully formed individual. In Vedic astrology, we even have a divisional chart called the Navamsha, which clearly becomes highly significant at this point in the person’s life.

I would additionally like to point out one more fact, especially considering the current transit in which a wildly powerful Rahu has been held in check by Saturn’s 7th aspect on them since about March 27 of this year, up until very recently. And that is this: for those who have a Rahu who works for them and gets them success and wealth in life, understand the difference between Rahu and Saturn.

Rahu can get you quick wealth, quick success, unexpected magical results and “all of that jazz,” but Saturn is the one who then takes all of that which Rahu has placed in your lap and then shapes it into something real, tangible, useful and relevant to Your physical existence. To take another example, Rahu is 4G, 5G, whatever G You want, as well as the electricity that facilitates our entire modern age. But when Your technological device runs out of power, Saturn means You take it and physically plug it into a wall! So who do You want to align with? It is not that Rahu is bad or to be rejected, but Saturn is the greater gift.

That is why right now when Rahu has finally escaped the long-standing aspect of Saturn and is in a super charged and potent state, it is of the utmost importance to realize the difference between what Rahu wants for You and what Saturn wants for You. To understand the essential difference between these two beings or grahas.

I will now give a ascendant-by-ascendant run-down of what Saturn wants You to successfully conclude by the time they leave Sagittarius at the very beginning of February. To successfully conclude means simply to See the nature of the new form that these areas of life are now contained within. I will be phrasing this information in the form of questions so that You can inquire within and take stock of how Shani has been assisting You since January 27, 2017. I will also mention what Rahu’s focus may be for each ascendant currently so that You can recognize the difference!

However, it is important to note that all of this is very general because as a vedic astrologer I need to look at Your chart specifically to actually understand how Saturn, Rahu and any other planet is working in Your chart. Therefore, please take this as a guide to inquiring into Your recent life trajectory but do not take this as an astrological consultation because it is not that.

Again, please remember that You must look at what Your ascendant is in Your VEDIC ASTROLOGY NATAL CHART which is specific and uses what in the West is called “sidereal placements” of the planets, but which, not at all incidentally, is the system first used by Indian astrology, created and developed in the Indian subcontinent by the peoples living there thousands upon thousands upon thousands of years ago.
